Chapter 18

Hello Miss Blackburn! 

   "You get seduced by your money Miss Blackburn" says Bob. "You know I will never condemn a presumed criminal appearing in front of a judge staring at his gavel. But stronger the Judge will knock the gavel down on the desk, happier will be victims!" "Well, well, well! This is Bob Hatson the Great himself in my house!" "You knew I would come to Costa Rica one day didn’t you Mel?" "What delayed your communication to me? Did Mr. Crombie the Landlord stop you or threaten you? 

   And …what did you do to my dog Gentleman? I didn’t hear him!" "Jodie and me organised a little scenario Miss Blackburn! ... a little surprise!" "Oh! My God, my Jodie who always takes care of me like her own eyes. You corrupt my best private agent Bob Hatson!" "You know what Bob Hatson can do… Hey Mel?" "Oh, yes! I can imagine only the half of what you can do young man!"

   Bob and Mel Hugging each other! "I am very happy you took the time to come and see me though!" "Never forever, I would miss the chance to meet my best agent in Costa Rica Mel. You smell so good today!" "Oh! Thank you for other days!" "Oh! Mel don’t be so scowling please, it was a compliment." I know and I know why Jodie told me to put this Mackie perfume this morning because she knew you were coming." "Your lips are quivering Mel. I’ll let you take a little nap. The emotions are beautiful but not too much for a young girl like you Mel!" "You are right Sir Hatson. I will relax before talking with you later." "Ok! Beautiful woman, we will have diner together … you, Jodie, and me tonight. Prepare all you have to tell me for after diner and I will listen to you carefully."  
"Oh! I’m so happy the saviour is here" says Mel. "Bob! Are you going to take care of my Jodie after?" "Of course Mel, I must not fail at my lover duty!" "Oh! Oh! The charming Bob Hatson didn’t lose any of his seductive traits even if he’s getting older!" "Wisdom, Wisdom, Miss Blackburn!" mentions Bob. "Jodie? Jodie? Are you here?"

   Almost blind am I God…"Yes Mel, I’m just right here in the apartment. For heaven sake Miss Blackburn I would never leave you alone with Bob Hatson! You would be able to fall in love again!" "Oh! Is that right? Then, this means that he’s as cute and beautiful as he was before!" "Almost Mel, almost… but a little scar on his right hand he didn’t have before." "How do you know that?" "Because it’s fresh!" "You see Bob, My Jodie observes everything. As you showed me to analyse people by first look, Jodie understood the trick. Now she is my eyes and my ears." "Mighty you are, both of you! This means I may have confidence in you!" declares Bob.

   "Jodie is now able to find out any information you need Sir Hatson. Many men could not do what my Jodie is able to prove to you Bob." "Good! This is exactly what we need Mel, competent personnel!" "I’ll go to sleep a little if you don’t mind. You just came in and I go to sleep, I’m sorry!" "That’s correct Mel but don’t worry, Jodie and I will find a way to stay occupied while you sleep!" "Bob Hatson! … It’s early to talk like this don’t you think?" reprimands Mel. "Oh! I’m sorry Miss Blackburn it is not what I meant, not at all!" Jodie amusedly exclaims ah! ha…! Mel smiles and say "ok young fellows you know what you have to do, I suppose." "See you later Miss Blackburn" says Jodie with a charming smile to Bob! "Come on Darky, where are you?" Darky barks one time as an answer! "Let’s go to sleep you and I and let lovers take care of themselves!" "Have a nice dream Mel" says Bob. "Jewel this audience whispers Miss Blackburn! "Come on Darky! Ok good boy drive me to my bedroom please…" We just hear her feet scratching the floor…sh sh sh sh…Darky brings Mel to her bed. "Watch out when she wakes up Bob. She is not the same old girl at all! You will see that she is still able to do a lot!" "Oh, I can imagine" says Bob. I’ve known this woman before and she's surprised me several times." "I can tell you when first Mister Crombie started to sell lots to vacationers, she always was in his way. As soon as he moved she was there to elucidate where such a lot was coming from, who was the owner, its price and so on and on and on. Always upon him not only to interpret to towns citizens, but to correct his demands and make sure he respects greater democracy between both parties and watch him that he hasn't corrupted anybody to obtain disgracious benefits! Mel Blackburn has been a crucial element for Costa Rica when some illusionary men from the Cartel wanted to seize Power. Mel used everything and every people she knew. International contacts she had to make these men self-retreat from own ambitions.

   Believe me Mel Blackburn can be as heavy as a storm over our shoulders. Her perseverance can astonish many important and influent people just by her writing in newspapers. She can show to the entire world that she can find important information and relate it to concerned people without hurting anyone as long as you don’t hurt her country! However, she can be cruel with her words if culprit shows bad intents." Bob instructs Jodie; "Rather than using super cops and great ex-army agents, having a girl like Mel Blackburn in your team makes men trembling just by hearing words she can say and write. She sometimes made men feeling the bitterness over themselves. Men who wanted to impress the entire world by self-presenting as the king of this planet, but they didn’t impress Miss Blackburn. Mel made the country people feel the same interest for their country as city dwellers. All of them for her were the same. Feeling the best between each other and with same interests, protecting their Homeland" she used to say. Mel Blackburn did work as a journalist in her younger age, for New-York Times. She wrote several excellent newspapers columns down south in Texas about oil spill. In fact, coming out with names she had doubts about hustling around with Petroleum valves systems, including corrupted selfish politicians, Mel proved to the President that according to some informers; "more than one man benefited from the tragedy. President investigated and confirmed Mel was right and an ultimate process has been engaged against these hustlers. Other evidence, Mel Blackburn has a lot of informers around the world. Mel worked in England several months following the war in Irak from London and transmitting to Washington further information between London and Washington and Canada. Bob having a little gulp of red wine Jodie offered, she refers to what’s happening in Canada, and shares relative to Casino’s Pirates conspiracy.

   "I will not give you any names and let Mel herself gives you the story’s insides to be sure I don’t make mistakes" Jodie said "but from Canada and Costa Rica, the same men recently declared some money to invest on Costa Rica’s casino. These men blackmailing to clients from Canada want to introduce dirty money in here. Mel had withheld information and just as she didn't know. She wanted you to investigate on this to be sure and create scandal to keep the population informed about the current transaction." Jodie pours Bob another glass of wine mentioning that statements are important under Mel’s eyes. Bob retorts; "Can you tell me where Mel obtained these secret revelations from ?" "Well I’m not absolutely sure Bob. Miss Blackburn knows so manypeople and she has a phenomenal memory. We don’t need to tell her information three times. As soon as she hears the news, she is on the phone and I hear her speaking with people she knows. Many times I would suspect that she is involved in major conversations or transactions and with different actors." "Don’t worry" says Bob, "she knows what she is doing. Thanks for telling me Jody!" "OK!" Bob approves! "Another investigation, thanks Jodie!" "I personally and several times, suspected Miss Blackburn of knowing a lot of subjects where I couldn’t find any of wanted information. Mel is very delicate on her contacts and nobody knows where it comes from" Bob affirms. "Younger, she frequented some politicians and big bonnets where the money was. Nonetheless, I can imagine she kept for her all the torments. While getting alerts from important recidivists giving her some tips, they exchanged gifts and promised that she won’t say a word about ex-criminal conflicts. Mel is a professional to make some people talk" Bob informs Jodie.

   Bob grabs Jodie’s hands, "you know Jodie, I have to be very careful with this project, and I don’t want anybody hurt in this story." "I know Bob and it’s exactly what Mel told me." "What did she say about me?" "She said that you are the most intelligent singer she met in her life. And you are very important to her eyes and to satisfy all the people around this special event, we need a man like you on our side. She insisted on … our side." "Ok! Then be sure I’m on your side because I don’t want any Mel Blackburn against my investigation. Mel always was working on the same side as me. Great success we had together satisfying many people. From now on we share some different conflicts but actors seem to be relative to both our projects so all together we can stop these men." Jodie lights up Bob’s cigar looking at him in the eyes clearly showing the feeling she has for him. Bob continues to impress Jodie by showing all the respect he attaches to Miss Blackburn and she understands how important Bob self-implies to resolve problems in Canada and Costa Rica. Bob explains to Jodie her responsibilities in the team and hopes she will fill her duty and observe useful information in Costa Rica. From more and more words Bob says, as much as Jodie realises the importance of the subject and the man himself! She seizes the highest dignity in the investigation that Bob requires and by the way, she tries not to fall in love with the gentleman but it seems pretty hard not to do so! However, Bob stays back for the moment and does not approach Jodie too close. Bob explores her sensibility and her humor sense. Even if she is listening about working hard and sometimes under risks, Bob explains that; "it is not always as easy as it could look Jodie," Bob studying her behaviour. Jodie and Bob hear Miss Blackburn yawning. "Oh! Miss Blackburn is waking up now! Watch out Bob!" says Jodie preparing supper.

   "The Bull Dozer is coming!" Mel walks out her bedroom following her dog Darky! "Hey! Hey Folks, how is it going with Sir Hatson Jodie?" "Fine, Mel! I thought you were going to longer sleep!" "Are you crazy?" Mel still yawning! "I was not going to leave you alone with Bob. He is able to kidnap you from me Jodie!" “Well you’re right Miss Blackburn and perhaps I would have been interested to follow the kidnapper!" "Oh! Oh Lady you are in my house in here and I decide when my crew is going out and where you will go! So let’s say that we have to respect our guest and God knows who he is and how important he is for us." "I agree Mel and that’s why I’ve prepared something good to eat for you and our guest!"

   "You know Jodie, I don’t know what Bob Hatson told you when I was asleep but I’m very concerned for you. So you better watch your butt little girl ‘cos Mister Hatson has a lot of tricks in his hat! His name isn’t Hatson for nothing, you got it Miss Jodie?" "Yeah! Yeah Mel I got it, but it doesn’t mean that I couldn’t fall in love!
